A diet too high in fat is also the enemy within

The excessive consumption of foods too high in fat and refined sugars not only harms the health of the heart and arteries, but also exposes the risk of developing breast cancer. So said Daniel Terrible surgeon breast specialist at the Gemelli Hospital in Rome.

A high glycemic index, caused by incorrect diet, exposes to the risk of cancer. This fact is confirmed by the observation of increased incidence of breast cancer among women of Asian origin, traditionally less affected by this disease, living in the West. The latter fact by adopting western diet typically lose the protection afforded them by a way of eating less food rich in fat.

That is the reason why among the immigrant second generation there was an incidence rate for breast cancer similar to that of Western women. And even in our country are no significant differences between the North and South is linked to eating habits: among the foods are under fire especially those containing animal fats, such as meat and butter, the most consumed in the North, while in the South, where the spread breast cancer is less, you consume more fish and olive oil.

To make matters worse, the growing popularity, especially among young people, a way of eating closer to the U.S. model complicit in the widespread distribution on the territory of fast food. In fact, experts warn, burgers and fries are not a healthy food and health is likely to be affected. In this sense, the forecast for the health of the Italians in the next decade are far from rosy.

Finally, always says Daniela Terrible, a valuable aid for maintaining breast health comes from an active lifestyle. It is therefore essential that young women are sensitized to the need to keep in shape not only by following a healthy and balanced way of eating but also regularly practicing sport.
